It is with heavy, heavy hearts that we are sharing the news that Clover Delicatessen ☘️on the corner of 2nd Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan has permanently closed.

This family-owned @cloverdelinyc has been in the same location since 1957 after being forced to move from its original location from 1948 after Kips Bay Plaza was built.

We always loved its neon signage which wrapped around the corner.

We thought for sure that they would be able to remain open since they are located in a fairly busy neighborhood (pre-Coronavirus) with many residential buildings nearby as well as NYU Hospital and Bellevue Hospital.

We are sure this deli will be missed by many as it was such a gem.

We will truly miss the 3rd generation owner, Frank Cuttita who shared with us why his grandfather named the deli Clover, even though he was Italian!

To find out the reason why, please support our work documenting small independently owned businesses on our Patreon page.

We will be revealing the answer on Patreon. Direct link in bio and IG story. • https://www.Patreon.com/JamesandKarla
