Manganaro Grosseria Italiana in Helll's Kitchen was founded in 1893.

Our photo of Manganaro Grosseria Italiana was taken in 2004 using 35mm film and appears in our book "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". The store had old-fashioned tin ceilings and ‪#‎vintage‬ showcases stocked with ‪#‎Italian‬ ‪#‎food‬ specialties like prosciutto, sausages, olive oil and pasta. Sadly they closed in 2012 although the family owned the building they were located in. When we interviewed the third-generation owner Linda Dell'Orte for our Store Front book she told us that she was the only one left in the family who had any interest in the business.
