This week is the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which celebrates the gathering of the harvest and it got us thinking of Russ & Daughters Appetizers on Houston Street in the Lower East Side which has been in business since 1914.

Although Russ & Daughters is best known for their vast selection of smoked salmon, herring and #lox they also make their own bagels, challah and babka and sell dried fruits and nuts.
