Full video: https://youtu.be/OdElq5H4HXY

In this Williamsburg Food Tour & Vinyl Records episode we visit two Brooklyn independently-owned food businesses and the largest vinyl record shop in New York City! We also check out a thrift and junk shop and a long-standing independent book store.

We start the day with a visit to Northside Bakery on North 8th Street. This Polish family-owned bakery which was founded in 1992, sells artisan breads, rolls, pastries and an array of Polish food all at unbeatable low prices. They are known for their traditional Polish donuts, paczki, we which we purchase two of and also get a Rogal Piekarski, a large Polish baker’s crescent.

We then walk a short distance to Rough Trade NYC on North 9th Street, the largest vinyl record shop in New York City! We go inside and look through the vast vinyl record collection in this large shipping container-filled warehouse space which not only functions as a vinyl music retailer but also has a full stage and concert venue, coffee shop, bookstore and exhibition space.

After working up an appetite looking through all that vinyl, we walk to Best Pizza Williamsburg on Havemeyer Street. Best Pizza, which was founded by Frank Pinello, uses high quality ingredients including their own house-made mozzarella and a century-old brick wood-fired oven to create their delicious pizza. We watch as they make one of their white pies from start to finish. Their white pie is $26 for a 20 inch pie, We also see in detail their vegetable pie and have their delicious classic cheese pie $23 or $3.75 a slice.

We then walk to Brooklyn Junk on Driggs Avenue. We go inside this large clutter-filled thrift store space selling everything from used vinyl records, furniture, vintage typewriters, telephones and porcelain.

After checking out the rows and rows of antiques and junk, we end the day with a visit to Spoonbill & Sugartown, Booksellers, on Bedford Avenue. This independently-owned bookstore, which was founded in 1999 specializes in new and used rare and out of print books. We sign copies of our Mini editions of both our “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York” and “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” books.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!
