Jade Fountain on Delancey Street in the Lower East Side

Jade Fountain on Delancey Street in the Lower East Side claims that it is "As Old As Hills" as it opened in 1920 but because of Prohibition laws that were in effect it is not likely. This #liquor store was forced to close in 2014 to make way for the mega $1.1 billion development called "Essex Crossing" which will contain luxury hi-rise condos as well as some "affordable housing". It seems doubtful that a graffiti-covered bullet-proof plexiglass enclosed liquor and #wine store will open in the ground floor retail space of the new glass towers. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork
