The Village Gate, Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village, NYC

The Village Gate on Bleecker Street (now renamed the Village Theater) was opened in 1958 as a nightclub and hosted some of the most controversial names in jazz, theater, comedy and folk music.

Bob Dylan lived in the basement of the Village Gate building in 1962 with his friend Chip Monck and it was in the building that Dylan wrote “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna-Fall”.
