It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Classic Coffee Shop on Hester Street, one of the last remaining luncheonettes serving egg creams, has permanently closed after being in business since 1976.

The second generation owner, Carmine Morales shared that the pandemic negatively affected his business but that it was also “just time to go.” Classic Coffee Shop did not have a grill, but instead served simple sandwiches and classic egg creams. 

We and our dog @hudsonpittienyc will miss Carmine and his classic shop!
