We see how empty the #NYC subway and streets are during the pandemic as we travel to Queens to showcase the amazing #homemade chocolate this family-owned small business sells and watch as the third-generation owner shows us #howto make an Easter chocolate bunny using a cast iron mold from the 1920s.
We also watch as the owner makes homemade chocolate candies including dark chocolate non-pareils and pecan delights.
Many small shops have recently shuttered in New York City, but the ones that are still open including Schmidt's Candy, need our help so we will keep championing them as long as it is responsible to do so. We are taking precautions while going outside and trying to maintain social distancing. We want to remain positive and help our fellow New Yorkers in this time of need and keep celebrating the contribution small often family-owned businesses make to our community.
