Spring Lounge at the corner of Spring & Mulberry Streets in Little Italy of Manhattan.

Although this bar originally opened in the 1920s as an illegal speakeasy and still retains its original horseshoe-shaped bar, it wasn’t until the 1970s that it became known as Spring Lounge. For many years it has also been known as the Shark Bar thanks to a shark mural & taxidermied sharks adorning its walls.
•
Spring Lounge is also featured in our book “Great Bars of New York City” and is one of the three bars we included in our book which opens at 8 AM (on Sunday it opens at 10 AM).
•
Let us know if you have visited this neighborhood gem whose motto is “Life is Short…Drink Early”and despite its homey feel, has had its share of star visitors including singer John Mayer who was a longtime regular.
