Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery on East Houston Street has been in business since 1910. The Knish became a popular staple of the Lower East Side diet because it was both inexpensive and filling. • We will be having a FREE ARTIST TALK at the Village Works Gallery located at 90 East 3rd Street tomorrow, Saturday March 26 at 4PM. All are welcome to attend as we discuss our 25 years of work documenting the small “mom-and-pop” shops of New York City.
