Le Fournil, a new French bakery in the East Village, NYC

Le Fournil, a new French bakery in the East Village, which opened in the #storefront formerly occupied by Moishe’s Kosher Bakery for 40 years was sadly vandalized on Saturday night following peaceful protests against racial inequality at Union Square in memory of George Floyd.

• While filming our YouTube video documenting the then peaceful protest on East 14th Street, we also witnessed the nearby damage of the #protest turned riot where some instigators smashed the front windows of @lefournilnyc and a few other businesses along Second Avenue. Despite the extensive window damage (seen in our video) the bakery reopened on Sunday morning selling its delicious French pastries, bread 🥖 and some savory items. The owner even posted a note on the plywood-covered window that they support #blacklivesmatter .
