When Mario D'Auito took over the bakery from his father in 1977, he "decided to specialize in cheesecake." When we interviewed Mario in 2008 for our book "Store Front:The Disappearing Face of New York", he told us that he bakes around 40,000 cheesecakes a day and then flash freezes them and ships them worldwide. Sadly after nearly 80 years in business, this #momandpop bakery 🍰closed in 2013. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork
