Our latest video "Dramatic NYC Sunset" is live!
This dramatic 1 hour sunset of the New York City skyline features cotton candy #clouds, open window soundscape, and stunning #sunset views of Downtown Manhattan including many notable buildings and water towers taken from our 10th floor studio in the East Village on November 12, 2019 from 4:48 - 5:48 pm EST.
This video and audio is NOT LOOPED, has NO FILTER, and is RECORDED ON LOCATION. The recording features calming sounds from the City including traffic sounds, sirens, people, construction noise, sirens, subway noise and plenty of white noise of the city to help you relax and can be used for a deep restful sleep, study or entertainment.
Notable buildings seen in our NYC #skyline view include City Hall, One World Trade Center, Woolworth Building, 40 Wall Street. 8 Spruce Street aka Gehry Building, One Wall Street, Manhattan Municipal Building, 23 Park Row, Beekman Residences and One Manhattan Square.
One of the reasons we chose this apartment in the East Village over 20 years ago, was for its amazing south facing views of the Downtown Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn including the Williamsburg Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge. We also loved the preponderance of water towers in our view, something that is uniquely New York City.
We hope you enjoyed our sunset view just as much as we do!
Equipment we used includes:
Canon 5D Mark IV Body
Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM Lens
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens
Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 Tripod

Our latest YouTube video: Vinyl Records & Food Tour: East Village NYC is now live on our JamesandKarla channel!
In this Vinyl Records & Food Tour of the East Village in New York City, we go crate digging at a well-known vinyl record shop with our rescue dog Hudson, visit a historic block featured on a record album cover and visit food businesses nearby including a spice shop, a popular Indian restaurant and a beautifully curated tea shop.
We start our tour by visiting the block where the tenement buildings are located featured on the album cover for the famous Led Zeppelin album "Physical Graffiti".
We then take a short walk to A-1 Records, NYC on East 6th Street which stocks a very well curated selection of used #vinyl from a wide variety of genres including dance music, jazz, funk, soul , hip-hop, disco, house and techno.
After #cratedigging and listening to some tracks recommended to us by long-time employee Chef, we walk down 6th Street to First Avenue to visit Dual Specialty Store, which sells over 400 herbs and spices from around the world.
We then visit Milon Bangladesh on First Avenue, one of the few Indian restaurants that remain today from this area of the East Village, which was once known as Little India. We go inside this family-owned restaurant specializing in Bangladeshi cuisine. We not only see the colorful and brightly decorated interior, but go back in the evening to enjoy some delicious Indian #food.
To end the day, we visit Physical GraffiTea on St. Mark's Place and enjoy one of their Fall specialty blends from their selection of over 200 kinds of carefully sourced tea and also take some loose tea home with us to enjoy later.

Flashing back to Stanley’s Discount Variety Center in Queens.
We loved the vintage #signage this #storefront has and its wide assortment of hardware, houseware and other items it sold. We remember thinking back in the early 2000s that the shop was located directly underneath the elevated tracks and filth would drip down onto its sign.

We hope everyone in NYC and on EST remembered to turn their clocks ⏰ back on Sunday morning as Daylight Savings Tine ended on Sunday, November 3rd!
One of the reasons why we love this #film photo of Claremont Liquors in the Bronx is that it highlighted the neon #signage complete with a #clock with no hands so no matter where you are, you will be on time! 😆

Our latest YouTube video: Downtown Brooklyn Food Tour: Street Food & NYC Classics is now live on our JamesandKarla channel!
In this Downtown Brooklyn Food Tour, we highlight popular street food options and NYC favorites including hot dogs, pizza and New York style cheesecake.
We start the day with a visit to the Fulton Hot Dog King on Fulton Street and share a classic street food favorite, an all American hot dog with our rescue dog Hudson.
We then take a short walk to Norm's Pizza on Adams Street where we watch owner, Noam Grossman make a classic cheese pie especially for us. We take our delicious pizza outside to eat and Hudson also is treated to some fresh mozzarella from Noam.
We then visit the iconic Junior's Restaurant on Flatbush Avenue, home of the world's most fabulous cheesecake! We go inside this huge corner restaurant and check out their retro seating areas, bars as well as their take out food counter and bakery. We get a whole original NY plain cheesecake to enjoy at home.
To end the day, we a special visit to see the interior of the landmarked historic Dime Savings bank, which is located right next door to Junior's. We were lucky enough to gain access to the interior of this neo-classical building and see its wonderfully preserved marble interior and the details of its main rotunda as the bank has been closed since 2002.
